JM Glendinning South Yorkshire is celebrating its first decade in business as it hits its £3m gross written premium target.
The Penistone-based business was established by managing director Mark Browne in November 2009 to give the JM Glendinning group a presence in South Yorkshire. The family-owned group has eight offices across Yorkshire, the North East, the North West and Midlands.
Operating from Bullhouse Mill, JM Glendinning South Yorkshire started with two employees and has grown to a team of eight offering commercial and private insurance services alongside specialist financial, health and safety and employment law services through other JM Glendinning group businesses.
Says Mark Browne: “We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved during our first 10 years. We have tripled our gross written premium turnover, grown the team fourfold and maintained the strong customer focus we set out to achieve. We now employ eight staff, we’ve achieved £3million in gross written premium and our aim is to triple the size of the business again over the next ten years.
“It has been a rollercoaster of a journey, but we are in a good solid place which we believe can only go from strength to strength. The area we cover in South Yorkshire is hugely under-resourced from a broking point of view and we are here to bring back a local broker presence for clients who want to see and speak to a real person rather than just hear a voice over the phone or make contact via an online interface.”
Says JM Glendinning Group MD, Nick Houghton: “Mark and his team have an impressive track record, which is due, in part, to their approach to client handling and the relationships they have developed and strengthened over their ten years in business.
“Our South Yorkshire business is a great example of recruiting the right person at the right time who has gone on to build on the established JM Glendinning brand and lead the way in their market. We wish Mark and his team every success over the next ten years and beyond.”
The South Yorkshire team marked the milestone with a celebration event for employees at the Sheffield Owlerton Stadium.
