Leeds broker chronicles 30 year anniversary with Narnia experience
A Yorkshire insurance broker is marking 30 years in the insurance industry with a renewed commitment to supporting the arts through West Yorkshire Playhouse, and a client celebration.
To mark his landmark career milestone, JM Glendinning MD Nigel Wood has renewed the firm’s West Yorkshire Playhouse sponsorship into 2018 and has invited 90 clients to join him for a special family trip to the Playhouse’s 2017 Christmas production, The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe.
Nigel began his career in the insurance industry straight from school in 1987 when he took his first role as a technical clerk at General Accident. He moved to JM Glendinning in 2014 to head up a new corporate insurance division within the group, and now manages a broad portfolio of clients including partnerships, family run businesses, limited companies, PLCs and multi-national businesses.
Says Nigel, “We’re a family business and we pride ourselves on providing a personal service. We also see the importance of recognising and developing talent to create tomorrow’sindustry leaders; in fact it’s something we put a lot of focus on throughout the group. Many of us are supporters of the arts and, in particular, the work West Yorkshire Playhouse does to develop talent, as well as bringing world-class performances to Leeds and making them accessible to as many people as possible through its educational and community programmes.”
“I wanted to celebrate my 30th anniversary in the industry by looking to the future. What better way than to bring 90 of our clients and their families together to enjoy a magical performance, celebrate the arts in our region and – I hope – inspire future generations. I’m very much looking forward to celebrating with everyone at what promises to be a wonderful performance – a perfect way to start this year’s festivities!”
Robin Hawkes, West Yorkshire Playhouse Executive Director, says, “It’s fantastic to have Nigel celebrate his 30th anniversary year with us. As a registered charity the Playhouse relies on the generous support from our corporate sponsors, trusts and individuals. This support enables us to continue to make great theatre which is pioneering, invigorating, relevant and entertaining, in a place where individuals and communities connect.”
James Thornhill of Wireless CCTV is one of the 90 guests attending the performance. He says, “Nigel Wood has been our insurance broker for over ten years; the level of service Nigel and the JMG team provide is exemplary and Nigel is honest and trustworthy. This invitation and the offer to involve families is, I think, testament to the kind of company JM Glendinning is.”
